The Foundry is TEi’s university-based extension program designed to nurture the next generation of African economic thinkers. It engages students in economic interpretation, research, simulations, and publication.

More than a campus program, it is a leadership crucible—designed to awaken the intellectual firepower of university students, deepen their economic understanding, and sharpen their ability to interpret and influence the forces shaping Africa’s future. At The Foundry, we don’t just study economics—we shape it.

Our Areas of Focus;

Fellowship
The Foundry Fellowship is a prestigious opportunity for outstanding university students to be mentored and trained in economic interpretation and strategic leadership. Fellows are selected through a competitive process and engage in deep research, dialogue, and publication to shape Africa’s economic narrative.

Leadership
We develop principled, future-oriented leaders who are prepared to tackle complex economic and development challenges. Foundry participants sharpen their leadership capacity through simulations, case studies, public speaking, and team-led projects rooted in real-world contexts.

Learning
Our learning model blends theoretical depth with practical relevance. Through masterclasses, curated readings, thought labs, and interactive workshops, students explore African economic dynamics, global trends, and transformative models for development.

Projects
Participants conceptualize and lead economic-focused projects with real-world application—ranging from policy briefs and data visualizations to campus-based campaigns and economic innovation challenges. These projects allow students to test ideas, collaborate, and implement solutions.

Events and Activities
The Foundry hosts high-impact events such as the Student Economic Thinkers Conference, campus debates, economic simulation labs, and publication launches. These platforms spark intellectual engagement and expand visibility for student-led insights.

Chapters
The Foundry operates through structured chapters in universities across Africa. Each chapter is student-led with guidance from TEi, creating a vibrant community for peer learning, collaboration, and local economic engagement initiatives.
TEi Support
TEi provides ongoing support through expert mentorship, access to research resources, publishing opportunities, exposure to African and global economic thinkers, and integration into The Economic Interpreter’s continental network. TEi ensures each chapter thrives with purpose and excellence.
